Parisian Engagement shoot

Last Spring we had the pleasure of styling a sweet Parisian engagement at Boulevard Kitchen and Oyster bar in the heart of downtown Vancouver as seen in Real Weddings magazine.

The couple fresh from Paris, where the soon-to-be groom had popped the question, sought a dreamy and romantic setting much like the Parisian cafes.

Blush peonies, Shakespearean love poems, macarons and stunning jewels were used to transform the space into a courtyard like cafe in the heart of Paris.

Style Me Pretty: Nautical Kids Birthday

So excited to share our Nautical Kids Birthday is featured on the Style Me Pretty Living! The inspiration behind this party came from a wooden sailboat, add in pop of colour (red & blue) it was a whole lot of fun!

Baby Showers

What a compliment it is when a past bride emails asking for décor & design help with planning the next fun event in their life, a baby shower! I really do cherish these very sweet messages, and am most grateful for the amazing clients I’ve had the pleasure of working with.  Last week I had three back-to-back consults for baby showers; a party in celebration of the little baby-to-be, and thought I’d share a few of my favourite trends.

Here are some great ways to spruce up a baby shower, (including a few of my personal favourite DIY crafts):

– Add colour: even for an unknown gender shower, be sure to tie in a bit of colour through the décor,  florals or perhaps the sweets. Yellows & greens works best when you don’t know the gender of the baby. Don’t be afraid to move out of the pastel colours, and chose brighter hues, as they will make for gorgeous photos.

– Use flowers: you certainly don’t need a tall arrangement of orchids; a simple vase full of colourful tulips will help add just the right charm to your table / setting.

– Tie in DIY projects into the overall theme of the party: fringe balloons, fluffy pom poms, ribbon backdrops, oh the sky is the limit (and so it pinterest for that matter). DIY crafts bring soo much character, and are truly a unique way to elevate any setting.

-Personalize: by adding the baby’s name, (or even the mama-to-be’s name) on cookies, cupcakes or the favours, you can make the soirée more intimate, and memorable. My personal favourite: using block letters to monogram the dessert table with the baby’s name!!

– Create movement: by incorporating interactive baby shower games, your guests will have a chance to mingle and enjoy their surroundings.

Here’s a little sneak peak at a few of my MUST HAVES for baby showers, and for more ideas be sure to check out our Baby Shower board on Pinterest.

Spring blooms

Spring is in full bloom, and blossoms are spotted covering trees throughout the city. This of course means Ranunculus & Peony blooms are around the corner (just in time for wedding season). And while I’m partially biased as I adore these delicate, and truly romantic flowers, the pair of R+P blooms are indeed, in high demand! Best to plan ahead when incoporating this pair for weddings & other special events, as Ranunculus & Peonies have a short bloom (late Spring- early Summer), but are certainly worth the wait! They are the perfect choice for an Easter centrepiece, or an elegant wedding bouquet. Available in a variety of colours, from soft pastels to bright hues, R+P blooms are a wonderful way to dress up any occasion!

Take a look at some of my favourite Spring arrangements featuring Peonies & Ranunculus flowers. For more inspiration follow us on Pinterest where we feature floral ideas & all things pretty.
